Completed two more books.

5. The Alchemist (C)
6. The Friday Night Knitting Club (B-)

Chris' grandma gave them to me to read so they have been moved up the list so I can return them. There is another that she gave me by the same author of The Alchemist. I'm not excited to read it though, the Alchemist was just... mreh. I didn't like how it really really pushed the central theme. I get that it's the point of the book but every other sentence doesn't need to declare the point.

The FNKC was... weird. I always get weirded out by books that are so gentle and then a word like 'fucking' is just randomly thrown into a sentence. It throws me off. Otherwise, it was a good book.

Books Read

1. Franny and Zooey (B-)
2. The Foot Binding Chair (C)
3. Phantom of the Opera (A)
4. The Wizard of Oz (A)

I feel like I'm forgetting one so I will update if I am. I am 10 days in so I'm a touch ahead of the schedule. I hope I keep it that way. I've already started on Dune and I can't seem to get into 2001. I think it will have to be a one sitting book in order for me to read it.

100 books in a year [Apr. 18th, 2009|05:05 pm]
It seems like an interesting concept. I want to read 100 books in one year. I would be almost 4 days to read an entire book. Easy for some, harder for others. In my life, I have read many books. I have Re-Read hundreds of them. There are some books I can't live without and others that I can't seem to get into but read anyway.

I wanted to read GREAT AMERICAN CLASSICS but for the most part, they are uninteresting. Catcher in the Rye is a good example. I understand, at least somewhat, what the writer was trying to accomplish in his book but the amount of praise that the book got and the amount of Media it got seems somewhat unwarranted. I'm going to start my 100 books in one year with Franny and Zooey by the same author if I can find it. Maybe then I can better understand the appeal of Catcher in the Rye. The only issue I can see with the 100 books in one year is money. We can't spend tons of money on books but if I can find a lot of them in paperback at bookmans, we should be okay.

Suggest some books, keeping in mind I have 4 days to read them and I work full time, so nothing like War and Peace. I will save those for another year. :)

1. Franny and Zooey (maybe if I can find it) Oo

P.S. I got the idea from Pajiba if you've ever been and I've been wanting to read more lately so it works out!

P.P.S. I forgot that libraries exist. That's how long it's been since I have read.

Oh yeah.

March 13th- Land In Chicago
13-22 spend time with the folksss
22nd- be back in chicago.

We're going to go to the Natural History Museum, I think, on that Sunday. It'll be 23 each to get in plus we have to figure out how we're going to get there. We might rent a car and see how that goes. I'm not sure if I can talk anyone to driving us around Chicago and Chelle, like I said, will be gone.

I racked my brain for anyone else that lives in the area and came up empty. Goro is kind of near there (Not really) but maybe he can chill with us for the day.

I'm tired today. i start off my day with a large job for a guy. I told him I would do it and he could come back in an hour but instead he insisted on sitting in the cafe watching me make copies. It's so obnoxious when people do that because I hate feeling like they are judging me based on how I react to the machine. Of course every other copy fucked up and something that was a ten minute job turned into almost an hour and I had to watch the guy fiddling around with all his crap, the stupid coffee cup and answer his questions about stuff he didn't really care about was just trying to fill time.

Chelle is on a plane right now to move in with Slyph. She has a nice job set up there and they are going to get an apartment together. I might not see my best friends for a long time. I keep thinking back to when we rented a paddle boat and spent a lazy afternoon on the water. It was warm and lovely. I cried when they left and I drove up to see them only a few days later. A 2 day visit turned into a week. By the end of it we were broke.

We bought a hibachi grill for 2 dollars on clearance and had the best steaks I have ever eaten.

Wedding stuff [Feb. 12th, 2009|08:53 pm]
We called Saga..uro ranch and reserved a place to actually have a wedding. I've been so against it but it will make Chris's family happy so whatever. I got really worried for a bit because a few places were already booked for that weekend. It seems like October is a busy month.

Things to do:

-Make 40+ origami boxes to hold chocolates

uhm

That's about it. Lol.

We've actually bought most of our stuff already when we see it on clearance or sale.

I have a new niece today. Addison Marie Hale. 6 pounds, 4 oz and she's fucking lovely.

[1:29pm] :( James is missing
[1:32pm] We don't even know how he got out because he is terrified of the outside world
[1:33pm] The door would have to be open for 15 minutes before he even thinks of going outside, and then he stands there all scared.
[1:34pm] he's never once just ran out the door like a dog would

Bad Grammar aside, I'm heart broken.

If Money doesn't buy you happiness... [Dec. 13th, 2008|07:22 pm]
People always say that money doesn't buy you happiness, and in some way I can see what they are saying but I'm so happy right now. I have never in my life been able to buy so many gifts for everyone and I can't wait to see them open them! YOu can say that that isn't money buying me happiness, that it's my want to give, but really if I didn't have money to do anything for anyone, I wouldn't be as happy. Even if you MAKE someone something, you have to buy the raw materials in one form or another.

I've been dirt poor and not happy. It doesn't lighten your spirit to sit alone in your room eating ramen noodles while your parents fight over money. It doesn't make you feel good to have to wear the same clothes year after year and kids make fun of you.

Who made up this saying?

It makes me feel good to go out and earn money.

It makes me feel good to be able to buy things I want.

It makes me happy to shower Chris with gifts.

It makes me happy to be able to contribute to this relationship.

So how does money not buy me happiness? It's not the only thing that makes me happy, not by a long shot, but when I have money that's one less thing that brings me down.

I'm having issues with making a Christmas list. This happened last year too and I think it's going to happen every year until I have a kid (Even then...)

I mean, I have everything I want and the 'big stuff' I want, i would rather save up for on my own and get. I can't ask for gift certificates because they won't get them for me...

I know I'm sounding spoiled but you know what, it's nice to sound spoiled for once in my life. This is making up for the years I had no Christmas so there! :p

I'm not even sure what I will ask for for our wedding next year. I like our bedding... I like our plates... I like everything we have because it's all mostly new and the only thing I don't like is our old stinky couches but I want to get really nice ones that will last us awhile.. can't really ask for that.

Oh well.

I found out that I can eat grapes yesterday.

I had such a huge avoidance of them for a long time but yesterday I ate one and liked it.

Tonight I will try a strawberry.

I'm reckless.
